Colleges are vital

How wonderful to hear the news that Sunderland College is having a major impact on the North East economy, generating hundreds of millions pounds for the region.

As a board member of the college I am pleased that this illustrates just how vital colleges are to the region and how timely that this report should about when just this week we heard how the younger generation are not ready for work according to the British Chambers of Commerce Workforce.

Sunderland College have demonstrated that they are leading the way in making massive contributions to the region and ensuring that the future business leaders of tomorrow are equipped and inspired when they leave education.

The accumulated contribution of former college learners, who are currently employed in the regional workforce, amounts to £401 million in added income to the North East economy each year.

Well done Sunderland College.
