Creativity is all around us in many shapes and forms. For many individuals, it’s a case of an enjoyable hobby or form or craftsmanship that satisfies the thirst of a creative mind.
It’s little wonder that many entrepreneurs are now looking to develop creative businesses. In 2013, according to government figures, the UK’s creative industries contributed a record £76.9bn to the economy, an increase of almost 10 per cent on the previous year.
Although these figures are a little out of date here in 2015, it is undeniable proof that there is a lot to be said for turning a hobby or a talent into a career.
The creative industry covers many sectors, including advertising, architecture, art, music, fashion, performing arts, software, film, crafts, antiques and publishing.
With this industry fast becoming crucial to economic growth, it makes sense to provide guidance to these essential businesses.
The North East BIC are holding a series of free workshops with the support of EBN and TESLA, focusing on how those working in the creative sectors can improve and grow their business.
The workshops include Setting up a creative business (for those just starting out), Marketing your creative business (promoting your products and services), Costing and Pricing your work (focusing on the importance of costing and pricing your services), Social Media to promote your creative business, and Networking.
The workshops have limited spaces and are already proving extremely popular, so booking is essential.
It is the BIC’s aim that these sessions will help encourage further economic growth and provide a valuable learning opportunity for those working in the creative industry.
