An introduction to Social Enterprises and Charities

Organiser: North East BIC

Can you make a difference?

Do you have an idea on how to help your community or a group by running a business in Durham? If so, you could potentially be looking at a Social Entrepreneur.

Social Enterprises are businesses that run for the benefit of a particular community. This can be anything from a community of artists, people within a certain location to a group of people with something in common.

We have helped to support lots of individuals set up businesses that look to support their communities. This has included improving the lives of families going through separations, people who are going through or have been through a serious illness and helping individuals who are neurodiverse into long term employment as just a few examples.

We want to encourage you to look at a social enterprise as a way forward and this workshop will help you explore the possibility of running a social enterprise.
