L3 Counselling Skills – Supporting People

The North East BIC with its partner Enterprise Made Simple (EMS) will be hosting and delivering a Counselling Skills – Supporting People (Level 3) course commencing Thursday 31st October.

What is Supporting people?
This 10 day course delivered over 3 months is designed to develop counselling skills, increase self awareness and implement self care. Whether that is self-esteem, self-confidence or self-belief. The programme will give you the opportunity to grow and change in both your personal and work life. 

Who is best suited to attend?
Individuals who work in a caring and nurturing role or volunteers looking to secure paid employment. Typical roles include:

  • NHS employees (part time)
  • Youth workers
  • Social workers
  • Charity employees
  • Hospice employees
  • Therapists
  • Social subscribers
  • Hairdresser / Beautician

What topics will we cover?

  • Explore 3 approaches to counselling
  • Communicate in a professional manner whilst maintaining boundaries
  • Use counselling skills to improve your communications
  • Building and strengthening relationships
  • Apply the BACP ethical framework to helping relationships
  • Create a self-development plan to be the best you can be
  • Realise the value of self-care

Why should I attend?

This course is perfect for those in a support or guidance role.

Past experience in this field isn’t essential as the course will cover counselling basics.

What are the practicalities?

Training will take place at North East BIC, Enterprise Park, Sunderland, SR5 2TA

All courses run from 9am-5pm unless otherwise stated and lunch will be provided. We will check any dietary requirements the week before your course.

This is a 10 day course spread over 3 months, you will need to attend all of the sessions. Dates for the next intake are:

  • October 31st
  • November 7,14,21,28
  • December 5,12,19
  • January 9,16

You will receive an NCFE level 3 diploma qualification in counselling skills, this is a nationally recognised qualification.

Who is eligible?

Each course that EMS delivers is funded in different ways so the eligibility for this course may not be the same as others, please do check with us if you have any concerns.

For Supporting People, you need to be:

  • Age 19+
  • Can be employed or unemployed
  • Must live or work in Sunderland

Plus one of the following

  • Earn less than £25,000 per year
  • Not have a similar qualification
