I October 2023 to March 2025 fixed term – with the intention to extend.
The North East BIC has an experienced team of social enterprise professionals who have established themselves as regional leads in this sector. Working with funding partners we are looking to deliver a series of packages of support for aspiring and established social entrepreneurs in the north east region.
We are looking to supplement the team and recruit up to 3 full time Social Enterprise Development Workers to support the team with the delivery of this fixed term project from 1 October 2022 through to March 2023 with the intent to extend this dependant upon funding and resources beyond that date
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To promote, develop and support social enterprises and co-operatives
- To provide business start-up and SME support to social entrepreneurs, and their social and co-operative enterprises for all stages of their enterprise journey (taking account of funding priorities and constraints)
- To ensure clients have access to the most appropriate support, receive a quality service of expert advice and guidance, whilst managing their expectations
- To help identify funding opportunities, liaise with potential Contractors and Funders on bidding, delivery and compliance issues to assist beneficiaries with their growth
- To promote all programmes and encourage network referrals from niche and complementary sources e.g. Co-ops UK, Social Enterprise UK, Locality, Social Enterprise Funders (Lottery, UnLtd etc), Social Investors (Co-op and Community finance etc), Local and National Government Voluntary, Public and Community representatives to promote growth within the beneficiary group
- Evaluate processes and help with the interface between BIC operational activities and contracting, and to adopt innovative solutions to secure continuous improvement
- To monitor social enterprise support activity by conversing with clients, ensuring support is compliant, is to clients need, that clients are progressed appropriately
- To develop processes and systems per project for audit, compliance and claims
- To undertake development and delivery of workshops with Advisers/Trainers
- To identify and produce case studies and PR stories per programme, worded to programme specifications
- Be responsive to data requirements and supply within timescales
- Produce ad hoc management information
